Geneva is the same time zone as Brussels.
Normal continental weather is expected for October and the evening might be chilly.
The main language is French, but most people understand and speaks English as well. You may also find a lot of people speaking German, Italian and Spanish.
The current change rate is 1 EUR = 1.07 CHF (as of October 2021). You can sometimes pay with EURO notes but you will get the change in Swiss Francs. All shops and restaurants accept credit cards as well as taxi.
Do not forget to take your power supply adapter for type C (two round pins) and J (three round pins) plugs. Switzerland operates on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz.
VAT varies from 2.2% (food, newspapers, books) to 7.7% (alcoholic beverage, services, watches). Hotels have a specific rate of 3.7%. All prices include VAT.
You can tip (5-10%) in bars, restaurants and in taxis if you are satisfied with the service.
